METHOD / VERSION 1.1
The calculation is math. The reading is interpretation.
The astronomy is deterministic. The astrology is interpretive. This is the public record of where one ends and the other begins.

Chart calculation
Astrology.ac calculates geocentric apparent true-ecliptic-of-date positions for the Sun through Pluto with the MIT-licensed, version-pinned Astronomy Engine. Local birth date and time are converted through the selected IANA timezone to an actual UTC instant.
- Reference frame
- Geocentric apparent positions
- Zodiac
- Tropical, 12 equal 30° signs
- Angles
- Ascendant from horizon rotation geometry
- Houses
- Whole Sign, anchored to the Ascendant sign
Unknown birth time
The calculator never substitutes noon and presents it as exact. If the time is unknown, the Ascendant and houses are omitted. Exact natal aspects are omitted because the fast-moving Moon and angles cannot be treated as certain.
The engine checks the beginning and end of the local birth date. Any planet that crosses a sign boundary is marked uncertain and is excluded from relationship patterns. Stable planet signs can still contribute without pretending the missing clock is known. The result says what can be known and leaves the rest blank.
Interpretation standard
Interpretive copy is original to Astrology.ac and maintained as product content, not scraped or stitched from third-party horoscopes. It separates placement, house, and aspect evidence, avoids a single deterministic personality verdict, and makes room for context and choice.
- No medical, fertility, death, crisis, legal, or financial predictions.
- No guaranteed outcomes, fear prompts, or derogatory sign stereotypes.
- No claim that a human astrologer manually reviews an automated chart.
- No fake precision such as a universal soulmate percentage.
Receipt Trail
Every core interpretation card exposes a compact provenance chain: calculated input, astrological rule, interpretive inference, caveat, and calculation/content version. Unknown-time cards label whether a placement is stable across the date, time-sensitive, or omitted.
Provenance makes the product inspectable. It does not turn symbolic interpretation into scientific evidence or prove that a reading is true for a particular person.
Shared Friction Receipt
Orbit Check uses categorical whole-sign geometry and symmetric pattern rules. Uncertain date-only placements are excluded. The output prioritizes up to four conversation hypotheses, each with two possible needs, evidence, a caveat, a repair question, and a small practice.
It does not calculate a soulmate percentage or relationship grade. Redacted sharing removes names and reusable chart links and expires after thirty days.
Sky Ledger
Current planet signs are compared with stable natal planet signs using whole-sign geometry. Exact natal degrees, numeric orbs, and strength values are not exposed. Date-only charts exclude any planet that changed signs during the local birth date.
A capture freezes the exact prompt, evidence, and method version. Later verdicts remain beside the original wording. The ledger shows counts by verdict but never turns them into an “accuracy” score.
Testing and versioning
Deterministic tests lock planetary positions against JPL Horizons reference fixtures, Ascendant examples, unknown-time behavior, compatibility symmetry, Receipt Trail structure, redacted share expiry, Sky Ledger serialization and immutability, share-payload privacy, and zodiac route integrity. Lint, type checking, unit tests, a production build, and a browser walkthrough run before release.
Calculation settings and the pinned engine version appear on chart results. A change to the zodiac, house system, ephemeris, or uncertainty rules requires a visible methodology update.
